The Porcelain Adorned Shrine of Wat Arun

One of the must-see sites in Bangkok is the Temple of Dawns or locally known as Wat Arun. Although it is one of Bangkok’s most popular tourist attractions, it is always worth a visit.

Located on the riverbank of the Chao Phraya River, it is a first rated royal temple that has existed for more than 240 years. It is renowned for its prominent shape and “ancient” look of the porcelain-adorn religious tower (stupa), making it the most impressive among tourists.

Climbing up the steep stairs of the central tower is a sweaty affair, but visitors will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of both, modern Bangkok and the quiet idyllic old part on the Thonburi- side.

Once you are there. take some of the many photo- opportunities. Don’t miss out on taking the canal tour, that takes you a different side to the “City of Angels”, that might surprise you. Look out for the longtail- boats, which are stationed around the pier of the temple.
